Beer a Day Blog

My opinion on a variety of beers.

Victoria Bitter

Victoria Bitter is another excellent beer from Australia. Despite it’s name it is a lager not a bitter in the traditional sense of English bitters. Maybe it refers to Victoria’s disposition. The most popular beer is Australia, and those Aussies know what they are talking about. Slight bitter taste, but very good, referred to as a working man’s beer, and that would be a good description. Not sure where you can get one in Canada, heard they are available, at a price, I was lucky my son brought me back one from Australia. If you see a VB here pick one up and give it a try. Remember this is what Aussies drink, Fosters is just a joke they play on the rest of the world.

  1. Great work on this beer a day blog… I get to writing up one about every week or week and a half…

Victoria Bitter is OK on a hot summer’s day and is the best selling beer in Australia… There are, however, hundreds of other, better beers being produced in this country…

    • Thanks, hard to get Aussie beers here in Canada, my son grabbed me some of the more popular ones to try when he was visiting Australia. What would you recommend?

  2. I can imagine it would be tough to get Aussie beer out there.

Well, if someone was coming out to Australia, we are adding new ones to our website by the week. Each of our posts link to the brewer’s site, and they frequently have order forms, I am sure that this would be costly though. Check the site, we are currently reviewing some micro-brews and semi-major brewers in Australia, but will also add some major ones soon.
